Managing COBRA Qualifying Events in EverythingBenefits

EverythingBenefits COBRA services require approving COBRA qualifying events, or marking non-qualifying events as not eligible. This article will go over this process in the EverythingBenefits system.

Viewing Outstanding Events

When benefits are terminated in Fuse, those end dates will automatically sync into the EverythingBenefits systems. The benefits administrator will receive an email when these events occur, with the instructions on approving them as COBRA qualifying or non-qualifying.

The approval process is quick and easy. It can be completed by clicking on the Review COBRA Events button within the email sent. This will direct you to a login page and then directly to an approval page.

If you are already logged into EverythingBenefits, navigate using the Menu on the top left: Benefits > COBRA > COBRA Qualifying Events (ER Approval).

Approving Events

On the approval screens, you will see a list of terminated benefits. The events can be approved by marking the checkbox to start the COBRA workflows. Some qualifying evens may require more information, such as event type (if an employment termination date is received, the event type is marked as Termination of Employment). If you click on the check mark icon a pop up will appear to request any missing information.

If the event is NOT a COBRA qualifying Event, then you can reject it by marking the X. Or you can use the selection checkboxes and click the NOT A COBRA Qualifying Event button at the bottom of the screen.

Viewing Event History

To view past COBRA history, you can use one of the following reports:

  • Benefits > COBRA > COBRA Initial Notices
    • To view details around initial notices for approved COBRA events
  • Benefits > COBRA > COBRA Qualifying Events
    • To view past approval/rejection history
