Entering a Compensation Cycle Budget
Compensation Cycles can include budgets built in to prevent managers from exceeding those amounts. This article explains how to enter compensation budgets into compensation cycles.
The Basics
- Budgets are only required if the Can Exceed Budget box is NOT marked on the cycle. If you do not allow managers to exceed the budget, you cannot leave the budget at zero.
- If the Can Exceed Budget box is not marked on the compensation cycle, the manager will not be able to submit their worksheets for approval unless the total proposals entered are less than their budget.
-
You will not be able to enter a budget until your Compensation Cycle has been created and one overnight process has occurred to sync all employees and compensation managers.
- There can only be one manager tree/field level that can be used for the compensation hierarchy.
- If you have more than one manager tree/field, go to Settings > Global Setup > Company Setup > HR Settings to view the Manager to Use for Compensation Trees
Entering a Budget
- Navigate to Settings > HR Setup > Compensation Management > Compensation Setup
- Click the pencil to edit the compensation cycle
- Click the three-dot elipsis on the top right and select View Compensation Budget
- You will be taken to the Budget screen, where you can define the budget.
- A comparative budget appears on the right side of the screen.
- To enter budget data, start in the Budgeted row and enter either a percentage or a dollar amount in the editable fields.
- You can edit the percentage or dollar amounts for each of the Pay Change Types.
- Save when finished.
- Once you have entered the increased percentages or amounts, you can either select each manager from the tree on the left to manually adjust their separate budgets, or, you can click on the Fill Budget button to fill the amount/percentage down to all hierarchy levels
- You must save before you can Fill Budget
- The Fill Budget function only works to fill the budget down to the lower levels of the hierarchy shown in your manager tree.
